COME BACK TO HIPPOCRATES:
THE “FORGOTTEN” PRINCIPLES IN MENTAL HEALTH

Abstract: In recent years the mental health field has undergone different changes but one main “worrying” trend is represented by a reductionism towards a bio-pharmacological level. A point of view about this situation is harkens back to Hippocrates’ principles, perhaps nowadays forgotten. A brief discussion about pharmaceutical industry and “financial distortions” in the mental health field is reported too. The final part is dedicated to the possible and “worrying” future scenarios such as a proposal of future multiaxial system in DSM-V.
